I Buried My Love in a Tomb

This poem (I guess it’s a poem) actually comes from a character I’ve been working on for the past couple of months. It’s not inspired by him so much as he wrote it himself, which is a bit creepy, but I guess there is a first time for everything.

‘I Buried My Love In A Tomb’

Because you were so beautiful,
I don’t know how I could’ve forgotten you,
Trapped and buried deep in my memory
Enclosed in a tomb.

I did not intend to dig you up today.
It is too late, I know. The light has been long out,
And you aren’t lying there anymore
Where I last left you.

Now you are simply a ghost,
As I am definitely to many other.
As I lie in your empty grave, I wonder
If I belong here.

I’d love to know whose painting this is.
